How exciting, I’ve just hit 2 months old (not me obviously, but my blog) and I’ve been nominated for an award – it’s just such an amazing feeling to know that I’m being read and that there may be some people out there who like what I write.
The Libester award is given to relatively new blogs with less than 300 followers as a way of sharing the blogging love and making them better known.
Thank you so so much Stir Crazy Toddler for nominating me. I have read her blog regularly and it’s so nice to know that she’s perhaps reading mine in return! As part of the rules for accepting the award I need to answer the questions that she’s set me. These are below. I then need to choose three blogs to nominate myself and write questions for them – I will get back to you on these as it’s going to be really difficult to choose 3 as there are just so many that I love.
1. How many hours on average do you spend on the internet every day?
Wow, this is a good question and something I probably don’t want to admit to myself!!! Do I include time on my iPhone while I wait at the school gates (and as I’m ALWAYS early there is A LOT of time wasted at the school gates) – I’m thinking no don’t include that – so…. now that I’m blogging and starting up a small crafting business..and my youngest is now at nursery 15 hours a week… maybe… urm…. around…. about….. 4 hours!!!! WOW really!!!! AGH that’s far too much but yes I think probably at the moment as I’m trying to get out there – that’s about right! – that’s scary. Horrible question!!!!
2. What film makes you cry?
Stepmom – with Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon. I will never forget the first time I watched it. I was living in Melbourne and a friend from home was over and we were having a girlie night in without the boyfriends. We picked 3 chick flicks and this was our first to watch that night. Neither of us had suffered from loss at this point (however we have since both lost our fathers) and oh my goodness, i’ve never known tears like it. I’ve never been afraid of crying and will always show my emotions but this night took me by surprise. We cried and cried and cried. Fabulous film but for those who haven’t watched it please be aware, you will cry!!!
3. Most famous celebrity you’ve seen in the flesh?
I was lucky enough this summer to go to the Olympics quite a few times. We bought 2 sessions from the initial bid however all the rest of our tickets were bought during the Games themselves. The only plus point of being an insomniac is that I would spend all night every night with 2 iPhones, iPad and 2 laptops on refresh trying to get tickets!! We were lucky enough therefore to have tickets to Super Saturday when Team GB won 3 gold medal – wow, honestly the 4th most special day of my life after marriage and birth of both children – nothing can express the excitement we felt. It was made better when after the women’s 100m final (last event of the night) all the spectators started to leave not realising that at 10pm Jess Ennis would step up to receive her gold medal. We were miles away but on the same level as the royal box so as everyone left the stadium we just moved over and over and over and over and by the time Jess stepped up I was all of about 10m away from Prince William and Kate. Mr P kept on telling me to take photos of Jess but I was rather in awe of the royals!!! (I do love Kate!!) – so yes that must be my most famous celebrity
4. Describe yourself in one word?
My initial reaction would be to say “tired” however when I thought about it I realised that although I suffer from a severe insomnia and therefore am obviously tired, it doesn’t take away from everyone else who are tired as well. I don’t think I know one person who wouldn’t say they are tired so why should I be able to use that word when we all are suffering so I thought a bit more and I thought that maybe I would like to describe myself as “true”. A true friend, a true wife and a true Mummy.
5. What’s your first memory?
We have always lived in London but when I was younger we had a cottage in South Devon. I think my earliest memory is driving down to Devon with my Daddy. We would always go in 2 cars as he would have to leave the holiday early to come back to work so my Mummy would drive down with both my brothers and I would go with my Daddy. He would always drive with one arm on the window and the other on the steering wheel and we would listen to Neil Diamond or Elton or Genesis and sing so loud – very very happy memories.
6. Favourite holiday destination?
Devon or Cornwall. Although I’m an absolute sun worshipper and dare I say a holiday isn’t a holiday unless I come home with a suntan. However, nothing beats a West Country holiday. I just love everything about it.
7. X Factor or Strictly?
Strictly, however I do watch both!!
8. Marmite: Love it or hate it?
Love it
9. What is something you’ve always wanted to try?
I would absolutely LOVE to learn a foreign language. I didn’t realise how important it was at school so just scraped by in my French lessons but now i regret it. When my daughter starts school I may well take lessons – just need to choose which language
10. Why did you start blogging?
I’m an insomniac and was slowly sending myself bonkers so I realised I needed to do something so I started crafting and blogging to keep my mind off being awake at night. Also, my youngest has just started nursery so I now have about 10 hours a week as a free woman so I felt that I wanted to start a little crafting business and blogging kind of came hand in hand with that I felt.
Here are the award badges to choose from

So i guess i need to pass the award on and ask my own questions. Bare with me and I’ll get back to you with names.
Thanks again
