I was lying in bed with my 5 year old son last night reading him his bedtime story. We have the same routine every night. After their bath my son stays in his room and plays while my daughter and I go up to her bedroom. We get into bed and have a snuggle and i read her a story and say goodnight. I then go downstairs to my son’s bedroom where I do the same, snuggle up and read him a story – he also gets to ask 2 questions. I have to limit it to 2 questions otherwise I’ll never get downstairs to pour myself my glass of wine!!
So last night, I’d finished reading his chapter and he was racking his brain as to what questions to ask me. I love watching him while he does this as he tries his hardest to think of something that will take me a very very long time to answer – not just a pretty face
So last night he asked why did we all get to celebrate our birthday every year and to have a party when his poor teddy bear had never had a birthday? What a very good question and something I’d never thought of. Why don’t our cuddly animals not get to celebrate their own birthdays?
Therefore, this afternoon after school I have two friends of theirs coming over to play and they are of course bringing their own cuddly animals. I’ve been out and bought some party food and I’m even going to blow up balloons and put them on the door. I just cannot wait to see their face. I think it’s such a great idea and the next time we’re at a loose end and getting a bit of cabin fever I think it may well be my daughters’ bunny rabbit’s birthday.
That is this weeks Reasons to be Cheerful. I normally then say brought to us by the wonderfully fabulous Mummy from the Heart however she is away doing amazing things in Belarus so has very excitingly asked me to host it. To say I’m excited is an understatement. As a newbie blogger of just 2 months holding my very own blog hop is seriously fun. I just pray that I have lots of visitors and that they all leave lovely comments on everyone’s posts. So please share the love and let everyone know that today’s R2BC is over here with me
. Next week will be back with Mummy from the Heart as usual.

Loved hearing about your son’s strategy for keeping you with him and honoured so share teddy bear’s birthday.
How sweet :0) Another party on the family schedule then. I’m always intrigued by the questions little ones ask.
What a lovely question and a great answer!
